Smoke projectile M825

M825, M825A1 — smoke projectile

Projectiles from an American manufacturer M825 and M825A1 are smoke projectiles. After the burst they produce white-phosphorus smoke (WPS), which is active for 5–10 minutes over an area of 150–250 m², depending on weather conditions.
The projectile is filled with 116 elements which, under the action of centrifugal force after the expelling charge functions, are scattered in an elliptical pattern over a given area. Each of the 116 elements is a source of smoke generation (WP). The ballistic characteristics are the same as for the M483A1 projectile (DPICM). Normally works in tandem with the fuze M577.

The difference between the old M825 and the new M825A1 - the flight instability of the projectile has been corrected, and the payload increased.

Technical specifications

Usage notes

Projectile LU214 has the same ballistic characteristics as the M483A1 projectile

Useful functioning height of the expelling charge for small targets with a frontage of up to 150 m - 150 m.

The smoke is safe for the enemy.
