Impact Fuze DM211/DM241
Fuze DM211 is a Norwegian variant of the M557fuze, used on 155 mm and 203 mm guns. Unlike the M557 fuze, it has no problems with setting for delayed action or with mortar-angle firing (no duds occur). The fuze arms at a distance of 50 m from the gun, which guarantees the safety of the crew.
The DM241 is the German variant of the DM211. The main difference between them is that the DM241 arms into the combat position at a distance of 66 m.
Key characteristics of the DM211/DM241 fuze:
Type: point-detonating (PD) impact fuze with instantaneous action and the option of setting for delayed action.
Used for 155 mm projectiles and other artillery munitions where high accuracy of functioning on contact with the target is required.
Features:
- Instantaneous action (Super Quick, SQ): functions on direct contact with the target, ensuring rapid engagement of exposed targets.
- Delayed action (Delay): the option of delaying detonation allows more effective engagement of fortified targets or objects under cover.
- Sealed and water-protected design makes it suitable for use in any weather conditions.
- Resistance to drops from a small height for improved safety during transport and setting.
The DM211/DM241 is widely used in modern artillery, providing high effectiveness in various conditions of combat use.
Technical specifications
- fuze weight: 988 g;
- fuze length (overall): 15.2 cm;
- visible length: 9.6 cm;
- fuze arming after leaving the barrel bore: 50 m (DM211), 66 m (DM241)
Usage notes
This is an analogue of the M557 fuze, with the same weight and ballistics
The DM211 and DM241 fuzes do not have the problem of getting damp, unlike the M557 fuze. They are also cleared for use in rain (except heavy downpour).
Fuze Setting
The fuze is screwed into the fuze socket of the projectile and tightened with a wrench.
- for impact action, the OV position is the default position. Check that the fuze indicator points to OV. If not, use the wrench or a flat screwdriver to turn the plunger slot to the “OV” position;
- for impact action with delay: use the wrench or a flat screwdriver to turn the plunger slot to the “MV” position
