M67A3 – mechanical time fuze without impact action
General information
M67A3 is a mechanical clockwork time fuze used with high-explosive fragmentation projectiles of calibers from 105 mm to 280 mm (field guns only), as well as with the 90 mm M71 high-explosive fragmentation projectile. Thanks to its extended range of functioning time, this fuze replaced the TSQ M55 series for long-range bursts in the specified calibers.
Description
The M67A3 fuze has the same dimensions, weight and shape as the M43A4 fuze and likewise has no impact element. The time action is based on a clockwork mechanism that includes drive springs and a gear train that interacts with a speed governor. The fuze body is engraved with graduations from 0.5 seconds up to 75 seconds (S).
The fuze is transported in a safe condition, with a safety wire passing through its body and the striker rod. This wire provides additional safety when handling the fuze until it is prepared for firing. The wire must be removed when preparing for firing.
Principle of operation
The functioning of the M67A3 is similar to that of the M43A4, except that the fuze's time-regulating mechanism provides a functioning time of up to 75 seconds. In addition, a safety plate prevents the fuze from functioning if it is set for a time of less than 1.5 seconds.

Usage notes
The M67A3 fuze has no impact action.

Fuze Setting
Setting the fuze:
Remove the transport cap from the projectile.
Inspect the threads of the fuze socket for foreign objects that could interfere with proper installation.
Screw the fuze with its booster into the projectile by hand, then tighten it with a wrench.
Remove the safety wire by pulling it out of the hole and taking it off the fuze head.
Set the required fuze time by turning the lower cap to the required value to complete preparation for firing.
