Projectile KTA 5838

Projectiles KTA 5912, KTA 5934, KTA 5938

High-explosive fragmentation projectiles from the Finnish company Nammo, series KTA 5912, KTA 5934, KTA 5938, designed to destroy enemy personnel, lightly armored targets and field engineering structures.

Designed for use with the Finnish towed field gun Tampella 155 K 83, and other NATO-standard artillery systems.

The projectile consists of a thin, specially hardened projectile body, which allowed the volume of explosive (TNT) to be increased, and the number of fragments to engage enemy personnel to be increased.

They differ from each other in the number of rotating bands.

KTA 5912 - 2 copper bands, KTA 5934 - 2 copper and one synthetic band, KTA 5938 - three copper bands. The Armed Forces of Ukraine usually use the KTA 5938 or KTA 5934.

The ballistic characteristics are identical.

During use of the KTA 5912 projectile, unstable movement in the barrel bore was noticed, which is why the next two KTA projectile variants appeared.

Usually used with propellant charges  KTA 5927, KTA 5928, KTA 5932, KTA 5933.

Usage notes

Projectiles KTA 5912, KTA 5934 are available in Kropyva, but with limited propellant charge options. When firing the KTA 5938 (not in Kropyva), use the KTA 5934 projectile as a reference.
